After a nerve-racking introduction of each person's personal histories and motivations behind joining, we each presented our folios and discussed as a group what worked well, specific to each individual. I enjoyed this dialogue and also discovering that I am not alone on my mission, although I was actually the only one who had flown half-way across the world to do so.
Our first project was to create an illustrated letter, using one type of medium, describing one day of our life that happened in the week past. It needed to give the sense of the day unfolding and the various pace of the hours. With the clock ticking away, we were urged not to think too much, but just to get started and at the sound of these words, I took my bamboo pen and unforgiving ink jar and started drawing away. There was no real plan, but it seemed to unfold as I drew away and remembered the day gone past. I've inserted the final result here.
