So with this new fact in hand, I decided that instead of using the standard horse, I'd tackle the exercise with the four-legged quoll character that I am currently developing for our first short film project. My motivation was largely driven by a desire to develop my initial character designs further, as well as understand and explore different shapes and forms that work well when animated and reveal a bit about the character's personality.

Galloping ahead
It is the first week back after term break and we launched straight into it with 4-legged animal runs, or more specifically gallops and canters. Previously I had always assumed that gallops and canters were only reserved for horses, but this week I learnt that the movements can also be applied to a variety of four-legged animals.
