This dream could be said to have begun when I was in nappies, fervently painting my cot's walls with a much-loved, brown-coloured medium - much to my mother's disgust.
The fear that I would never achieve a 'proper job' if I undertook studies in fine art prompted my studies in media communications and the completion of degrees in cultural studies, languages and wine marketing. After a short career in the wine industry, I moved into the fast-paced world of advertising, hoping to access a more creative path. Ironically, it was here, as an Account Manager, where creativity was always at an arms length and access was not permitted for those not allocated to be so. As a creative person this was a difficult predicament, but it helped me understand which side I should be on.
It has taken many years to build the confidence to detour from the 'secure 9-5' mindset, but now I am well on my way down this path nothing has ever felt more 'right'.
